There is a nonproffit organization that serves a national client base.
I have used the services of this group for nearly 20 years. Each
year, I have made it a point to send them a nice little check in
appreciation for what they do. Last year, because of some special
consulting work, I was even able to send them a little nicer check
than normal.
They made a change in the delivery method of one of their services
they provide a couple of years ago. At first I did not care for the
change, but decided to give it a try. After several months, I still
was not pleased so I e-mailed the Executive Director. In her column
in the newsletter, she gave her e-mail address and encouraged people
to write to her. No response, so I figured she was over loaded and
waited about a month. Still no reply, so I e-mailed again.
Nothing.
Assuming my messages were eaten by her e-mail filter, I called and
left a voice mail message asking her to contact me. Even provided a
toll free number to make it easy.
Another month and nothing.
so I call again. This time, I actually leave a message with a person.
Still no reply.
This is a horrible way to treat people. Very poor management skills
and not the kind of person I would want heading up an organization.
What's wrong with people these days?
Are they so consumed with themselves they can't figure out what they
really need to do?
Well, i've figured it out.
Until there is a different Executive Director or I get a response from
my four messages, no more contributions will be headed their way.
All i can say is it's very sad.
No, I'm not going to name the organization or give you more clues.
I work hard for my money and there's not a big pile of it left over
each month. If people can't even have the decency to return your call
or even reply to your e-mail, then surely, they are too busy to have
to take the time to open my envelope and deposit my check. So I'm
just doing my part in saving them some time and effort.

We have a jam packed show for you tonight.
We will check out tracks from two new CDs:
guitarist Dean Grech is in with "Look Out"

On the show this week, just lots of music. Unfortunately, my main broadcast
computer has died and this is creating some challenges. We'll be on the
air, but from the back up computer.
As you may recall from last week, we talked extensively about the state of
smooth jazz. I took direct aim at The Weather Channel from an article that
indicated that they were no longer going to have smooth jazz as part of
their Local On the 8 segments. I e-mailed the new Executive Vice President
of Programming regarding this issue. to my total surprise, I actually
received a reply this week and it surprised me what he had to say. I'll
share that message with you on the show.
Smooth Jazz news and lots of music is what's on for this week.
Around these parts, it's very very hot with an Extensive Heat Warning on
until Tuesday night. So we're just staying inside and will have lots of
cool music for you.
it's all on The Global Voice, Tuesday 0:00UTC, that's Monday 7pm central 8
eastern.
Hope you will be with us?
Stay smooth!

Tonights show is going to be a little different. I'll have the latest
in smooth jaz news, celebrate some artist birthdays and:
Share tracks with you from the new CD by vocalist Oleta Adams titled
"Let's Stay Here." Plus, I've got a new song from George Benson.
Now the different part of the show. Over the past week, sadly smooth
jazz has taken another blow from corporate America. We'll talk about
that and invite you to be part of the show. I want to chat with you
on the air about the music we love. What you like and don't like.
What can we do to convince corporate America that there is strong
support for smooth jazz? What should the artists be doing to help our
cause?
I will open The Smooth Jazz Line 316-858-0098 and you can call in
anytime during the show.
If nobody calls, then I'll just play music. But I really want to hear
from you.
I might even open Skype to take calls as well.
So, put your thinking cap on and I'll see ya on the Internet radio
tonight.

Today I learned that the Weather Channel has decideed to replace the smooth
jazz that has been a part of the Local On the 8's with soft rock. Hmmmm!
Do they really understand how stupid this decision was? No, and sadly, I
doubt they give a damn either.
It's going to be harder to understand the voiced information as it is spoken
over soft rock which almost always is a vocal track. Smooth Jazz made it
much easier to understand. The Weather Channel also has had two Smooth Jazz
CDs compiled of music that was popular in these segments and both peaked
very high on BillBoards Jazz album chart. How many ways can you say DUMB?
I'm slowly getting to the point where I just about refuse to tune in to the
Weather Channel and put up with their poor decisions regarding programming
and now the removal of smooth jazz from the local segment.
Their logic makes no sense and of course, these big corporations don't make
sense either. The networks wonder why viewership is going down and down and
down? If they'd just look in the mirror, they'd know why. So Mr. Weather
Channel, you just go ahead and play your soft rock and knock your socks off.
for me, you've just encouraged me not to tune in and put up with your
garbage.
By the time you realize your mistake, it will probably be too late as you
will have totally distroyed The Weather Channel and you will be scratching
your heads saying, "What in the world did we do wrong?"
You won't listen even if we try to tell you, so go and enjoy the ride, yes,
the ride down the river and hope you can swim cause your ship is starting to
sink.
Bring back more live weather programming and smooth jazz during the Local on
the 8s and you can save the ship from sinking before it's too late.
