Smooth Jazz e-news for March 17, 2009

Hey smooth people:

On our show this Tuesday, St. Patrick's Day, I will feature tracks
from three new smooth jazz albums:

Saxophonist Boney James has released "Send One Your Love." This is
one of the hottest releases so far this year.

Saxophonist Darren Rahn has "Talk Of the Town." This newcomer to the
SJ world has an infectious inviting sound.

And last , but not least, Pieces Of A Dream are in with "Soul Intent."
always one of my more favorite smooth jazz groups, they continue
offering a great sound on the new album.

I'll have the latest in smooth jazz news, celebrate some birthdays and
I've even dug up a couple of great classic smooth jazz tracks to throw
into the mix.

This programming note:

Sax and flutes on the Brunch this week....

Hey smooth people:

boy, I'm really glad the temps stayed above freezing and we did not
get an early Spring blizzard. I'm ready to put the snow shovel away
for good.

On our show this Sunday, we will listen inside the new boney James CD,
"Send One Your Love." This is one of the best albums to come out so
far this year.

Also, we will hear a bit of flute playing from Althea Rene' from her
new CD, "No Restrictions."

I'll have smooth jazz news, some birthday celebrations and as much
smooth jazz as allowed by law.

Don't forget that Yanni will be at the new Hartman Arena in June.
More info on this concert in the very near future.

Have a great weekend and enjoy this Friday the 13th. We get another
one of these lucky days in November!

I'll see you on the radio, sunday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon on b98-FM.

Critically acclaimed guitarist/songwriter and famed NY Yankees star BERNIE WILLIAMS

Bernie Williams comments: "I'm thrilled to be recording again and to be a part of
the Reform Records family. They share my vision for this album and for my music.
Creating my debut album was a great experience, although my primary focus at that
point was still baseball. For the past two years, I have been able to fully dedicate
my time to music, and I could not be more excited with the results."
Chris Hower, A&R and Head of Label Operations for REFORM RECORDS states on behalf
of all at REFORM: "We are thrilled to have signed Bernie Williams and we are proud

Be Ready and Safe as Severe Weather Season in Kansas Begins!

Kansas Severe weather awareness week

Severe Weather Awareness Week begins Monday, March 9  and runs
through Friday, march 13. Activities include the annual statewide
tornado drill at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The backup  date is Thursday.
Authorities suggest these activities for this week as well:

(ldot) Families should practice their severe weather safety plan at
home.

(ldot) Families should develop a safety plan for when they
participate in outdoor activities, such as sporting events.

(ldot) If you have a weather radio, replace the backup battery so
the radio will still work in the case of a power outage.

Storm spotter training

The National Weather Service in Wichita conducts storm spotter
training sessions, which are normally scheduled throughout the
spring. Attendees are taught the basics of thunderstorm
development, storm structure, the  features to look for, and where
to find them. What, when and how to report information as well as
basic severe weather safety are also covered. The session is a
multimedia presentation, which includes detailed video. The classes
typically take about 1  1/2 to 2 hours and are open to the public.
